Jinan International Sister-city Scholarship

About Jinan

Shandong Province, located in the east of China, is the hometown of Confucius, the birthplace of Confucian culture, and the third largest province of China in terms of economy volume. Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, has a history of more than 2600 years. It is a famous historical and cultural city and the birthplace of Longshan culture. It is known as the spring city in the world.

International Sister City Scholarship

Since 2014, Jinan municipal government has launched the “Sister-City scholarship” program to support students from international sister cities of Jinan to study Chinese language or degree programs in Jinan. More than 400 students from 22 cities of 16 countries, including Cape Verde, South Korea, Indonesia, Finland, Brazil, France, Mexico, Turkey, Australia, Cambodia, Japan, Sweden, Mongolia, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine have studied in University of Jinan, which has promoted the educational and cultural exchanges between Jinan and the international sister cities.

The scholarship covers medical insurance, tuition and accommodation for one-semester/one-year Chinese language and culture program and degree programs.

About UJN

University of Jinan is a key and comprehensive university in Shandong Province with a history of more than 70 years. It is entitled a distinctive institution of higher learning which is committed to cultivating applied-talented students. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs and enjoys the right to recommend postgraduates exempting admission examinations. There have been about 5000 international students from more than 80 countries studied in UJN.

Admission Requirements

1. About Applicants

Applicants must be non-Chinese nationality, physically and mentally healthy, aged between 18~40 for degree study and 18~60 for non-degree study, with high school degree or above.

      2. Language Requirements

(1) Students applying for English taught programs should come from countries where English is the mother tongue or official language, or graduate from English taught major or have English language proficiency of IELTS 6.0/ TOEFL 70/ Duolingo English Test 100/ EF SET 60 or above (other English test scores can also be accepted if they can reach the aforementioned level).

(2) Students applying for Chinese taught programs should have Chinese language proficiency of HSK4 180 and above.

3. Required Documents

All documents should be in/translated into Chinese or English and please upload both translated and original version in the application system. Each applicant should submit his/her:

- Application form (please fill all the applicable items in online application system);

- Scanned copy of passport(Passport validity should be more than 18 months for students who apply for programs longer than 6 months);

- Graduation certificate or pre-graduation certificate (if not graduated);

- Physical Examination Report (issued within 6 months);

- Non-criminal record certificate;

- Applicants who have graduated for more than two years must provide work certificates from the time of graduation to the time of application;

- Applicants under the age of eighteen must submit the file of temporary guardian in China.

In addition, students who apply for undergraduate programs must provide the following documents:

- CSCA test result;

- Senior high school academic transcript;

- Language proficiency certificate.

NOTE:

(1) If students are currently studying in China, please add the following documents:

- Scanned copy of information page of passport and the page with entry stamp, residence permit page or X2 visa page;

- Transfer Letter or Certificate of Completion and transcript from prior institution.

(2) Students are required to present the original copies of all application materials for the school’s review upon registration. Students who fail to pass the review will be disqualified from the admission.

How to Apply

1. About Recommendation

Applicants must be recommended by the International Affairs Office of your local government.

2. Online Application

Please apply on the site http://admission.isao.ujn.edu.cn/, and upload the related documents as required.

3. Admission

Accepted international students will receive the Admission Notice of UJN and Form JW202/DQ. With these materials (original form), the applicant may obtain an X1 visa (study over 6 months) or an X2 visa (study less than 6 months) on request from the local Chinese Embassy or Consulate.

4. Registration

After enrolling and paying the required tuition, applicants should finish the procedures for residence in China in Jinan Exit-Entry Administration Bureau within 30 days (Materials required include the passport, Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Foreigners, and Verification of Physical Examination for Foreigners).
