JINAN INTERNATIONAL SISTER-CITY SCHOLARSHIP

About Jinan

Shandong Province, located in the east of China, is the hometown of Confucius, the birthplace of Confucian culture, and the third largest province of China in terms of economy volume. Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, has a history of more than 2600 years. It is a famous historical and cultural city and the birthplace of Longshan culture. It is known as the spring city in the world. Jinan has a total area of 10244 square kilometers and a permanent population of 10.87 million. It is divided into ten districts and two counties.

International Sister City Scholarship

Since 2014, Jinan municipal government has launched the "Sister-City scholarship" program to support students from international sister cities of Jinan to study Chinese language or degree programs in Jinan. More than 430 students from 22 cities of 16 countries, including Cape Verde, South Korea, Indonesia, Finland, Brazil, France, Mexico, Turkey, Australia, Cambodia, Japan, Sweden, Mongolia, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine have studied in University of Jinan, which has promoted the educational and cultural exchanges between Jinan and the international sister cities.

The scholarship may cover medical insurance, tuition and accommodation for long-term (degree or one-year language) program students; cover medical insurance and tuition for short-term (3-6 month) program students.

About UJN

University of Jinan is a key and comprehensive university in Shandong Province with a history of 75 years. It is entitled a distinctive institution of higher learning which is committed to cultivating applied-talented students. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs and enjoys the right to recommend postgraduates exempting admission examinations. There have been about 4000 international students from more than 80 countries studied in UJN.

Non-Degree Programs

Chinese Language and Culture Program

Based on your Chinese level, there are 6 different levels from the very beginning to advanced, there are about 20 credit hours language courses per week, plus some cultural courses in the afternoon.

Main courses: Speaking, Listening, Grammar, Reading and Writing.

Selective courses: Chinese Culture, Chinese Calligraphy, Traditional Dance, Chinese Painting, Peking Opera, Tai Chi, Tea Art, Paper Cutting and HSK tutorial etc.

Duration:

Spring term: March to July;

Autumn term: Sept. to Jan.

Admission Requirements

1. About Applicants

Applicants must be non-Chinese nationality, physically and mentally healthy, aged between 18~40 for degree study and 18~60 for non-degree study, with high school degree or above.

2. Language Requirements

(1) Students applying for English taught programs should come from countries where English is the mother tongue or official language, or graduate from English taught major or have English language proficiency of IELTS 6.0/ TOEFL 70/ Duolingo English Test 100 or above.

(2) Students applying for Chinese taught programs should have Chinese language proficiency of HSK4 and above.

3. Required Documents (All documents should be in/translated into Chinese or English)

Each applicant should submit his/her

①Application form (please fill all the applicable items);

②Scanned copy of passport(Passport validity should be more than 18 months for students who apply for programs longer than 6 months);

③Graduation certificate or study certificate (if not graduated);

④Physical Examination Report;

⑤For those who graduate more than two years: Certification of latest employment (if formally employed) or certificate of non-criminal records (if unemployed in recent years).

In addition, students who apply for degree programs must provide the following documents:

Bachelors Candidate

⑥ Senior high school graduation certificate(notarized);

⑦ Senior high school academic transcript;

⑧ For Chinese taught program, the language requirement is HSK level 4 or above.

Postgraduate Candidate

⑥ Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree(notarized);

⑦ Academic Transcript;

⑧ Study Plan;

⑨ Two letters of recommendation from two associate professors or higher;

⑩ For Chinese taught program, the language requirement is HSK level 5 or above.

NOTE: If students are currently studying in China, please add the following documents:

① Graduation Certificate or Study Certificate and Transcript from previous school;

② Scanned copy of information page of passport and the page with entry stamp, residence permit page or X2 visa page;

③ Transfer Letter or Certificate of Completion and transcript from prior institution.

Students are required to present the original copies of all application materials for the school's review of scholarship eligibility upon registration. Students who fail to pass the review will be disqualified from the scholarship.
